Sunday, May 11, 2014 and we are on the road.
We pulled out of the driveway at about 11:45 AM and for those of you that know Wanda you know that’s practically the crack of dawn. She says “I was up at 9 and THAT is the crack of dawn”.
We really enjoyed the time driving. The RV floats down the road, in fact tonight as I’m writing this I realized what I’m feeling is a lot like you feel after several hours on a boat. A gentle rocking feeling. I’m sure I’ll get used to it and it will diminish with more miles.
Climbing the mountains was a revelation. When those trucks and RV’s you’re behind are crawling it’s because even though they have the pedal to metal the rig just doesn’t want to go any faster. At least we were passing those guys but did have my foot stuffed in it to do 43 MPH.
We stopped at a rest area and gave some foodstuffs and a little cash to a family of 5 (had their children with them). Felt right so we did it.
The sights are beautiful as you can see and the ride is incredibly comfortable.
So, tonight we are parked in an RV park in Weed, CA. We thought that there was no more appropriate place for the “Rolling Stoner’s” to settle down for the first night. plus we can see Mt. Shasta from our parking space.
