Stuck In Lodi, Again

Posted by Handsome - May 15, 2014 - Uncategorized, Where The Heck Are We?

P1000398Well there was a reason Credence Clearwater Revival did a song about how it sucks to be in Lodi, CA. While our experience with Lodi is very limited it did indeed suck.

We were thinking that it was about as far as we wanted to drive for the day so we got on our trusty AllStays Camp and RV app that shows places to stay with your RV. It includes RV Parks, City, County, State and National Parks that have RV spaces and tells what amenities they have. It also includes links to the website for locations if they have one as well as a page of reviews for the sites left by people that have stayed there.

AllStays showed us Flag City RV RESORT and it looked good. Click the link and you might think so too. While it is very clean and nice looking it is truly nothing more than a big parking lot. Take away the cable tv and the full hookups and you might as well be in a nicely landscaped Walmart parking lot or Rest Area. I’ll tell in another post about a spectacular Rest Area we came across. The place was so uninspiring that snap happy Wanda didn’t take a single picture.

P1000393The ONLY good thing about Lodi is they have a Truck Wash there and we got both the RV and the Car cleaned for a really reasonable cost. We did however learn that it is important before getting underway to make sure all the vents are closed. Had quite the downpour in the bathroom. Wanda just wishes the toilet seat had been up. That way it would have gotten a good cleaning too. As it was everything else got wetted down pretty good.

P1000381We did have an enjoyable day on the way there. We stopped in Corning, CA at the Olive Pit. Each and every time we have driven through the area we stop there and taste olives and buy several items.

We also met a guy at a rest stop outside Sacramento. He had dreadlocks, the ass was worn out of his Carhart Overalls but Wanda wanted to pet his dog.

His name was Josh and the dogs name was McLovin after the character in the movie “Superbad”. He even had a collar (the dog did, not Josh) that said “Bad to the Bone”.

Josh and McLovin had been up north where Josh was applying his skills making Hashish. His girlfriend was supposed to join him but she had inadvertently cheated on him while on LSD. He was attempting to get back to Arizona to help her get straightened out. The story goes on but that’s enough of it for this post.

Wanda asked him if he had food. He said “I’ve got some dog food but that’s all. I might have to eat some of it.” Of course Wanda immediately went to the RV and made him two of her awesome Ham and Cheese sandwhiches, got him a banana, a Kit Kat candy bar, two Rice Krispie treats and two cans of Diet Coke. He was appreciative and we got the hell outta there. We did see him at another Rest Stop the next day after leaving Lodi. We did not talk to him.

Being on the road offers many interesting moments.
